$32 million Awarded for Road Construction

Finally the government of El Salvador has reported the results of the tender for the works on the Diego Hoguin Boulevard.

A statement from the Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Housing and Urban Development reads:

The Minister of Public Works, Gerson Martinez, reported today ahead of the anticipated date for the award, the winners of the competitive tender for the project to complete the Diego de Holguín Boulevard Segment II, which has been subdivided in Section II-A and Section II-B, and whose order to proceed with work will be given in the next few days.

Going beyond the requirements of the tender and in compliance with the procedures set out in Article 31 of the Rules for the Implementation of the Policy for Procurement of Goods and Related Services, of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (BCIE), the companies assigned to the development of this iconic work are:

Constructora DISA S.A de C.V - $ 17,377,535.23
Inversiones OMMI S.A de C.V - $ 14,548,023.03
Asocio UDP Cal y Mayor y Asociados-Inserin, S.A de C.V (SUPERVISION)

After notifying the assigned companies, according to the rules of Acquisition and Contracting Act of Public Administration (LACAP) a time period is given for review of resources and after evaluation by the committee a decision is made as to whether or not to proceed, then follows a period of 10 days, after which the allocation of the selected companies is declared official and the parties proceed to the signing of the contract, the next step is the order to begin the work.

The award ceremony took place in presence of Deputy Minister of Public Works, Hugo Barrientos, representatives from Transparency International Chapter El Salvador, Jaime Lopez, Secretary of Strategic Affairs, Hato Hasbun, the Presidential Commissioner for Public Investment, Guillermo Lopez Suarez, and Assistant Secretary of Transparency and Corruption, Marco Rodriguez.

The Ministry of Public Works will launch a new tender during the third week of March 2011.

The process was declared deserted because the companies did not comply with the minimum score required for the different phases of the process.

El Salvador: Bids Submitted for Diego de Holguín Boulevard

Two construction companies and seven supervising entities are currently participating in the bidding for construction and project supervision of the Opening of Boulevard Diego de Holguín.

Bids were received from: Equipos de Construcción (ECON) and Constructora Meco S.A to build the project.

Finally, Offers to Build Salvadoran Road

November 2011

After two failed tender processes, El Salvador's Minsitry for Public Works (MOP in Spanish) has received four bids to construct the new highway.

The new highway will connect the country's capital San Salvador with Santa Tecla 9.9 kilometers (6.5 miles) away.

According to a MOP press release, of ten companies that were invited to tender, four have expressed an interest in building the second stretch of the Bulevar Diego de Holguín road, which will see the project completed.

El Salvador: Companies Bid for Infrastructure Projects

May 2010

FOMILENIO received bids to build three communal infrastructure projects.

They include improving roads at Cantón Jocotillo and paving the “Cantón Conacaste” area, both located in the municipality of Concepción Quezaltepeque. In the municipality of Agua Calientes, works include paving the “Cuesta de la Ceiba” street in El Chaparrón village.
