Laestrella.com.pa reports on its website: "Acelerador de Empresas, which is a part of the "City of Knowledge" Foundation, signed an agreement for the "Support for Dynamic Entrepreneurship" project with the IDB, via the Multilateral Investment Fund. The investment for the project is $5 million for three years.

Initiatives by qualifying companies should have to potential for rapid growth, internationalization of the product, investment contact network, etc.

Honduras: $27 Million for Agriculture Projects

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will loan $27 million to a program fostering rural business.

The funds are earmarked for the departments of Olancho, El Paraíso, Colón and Gracias a Dios, and intended to fund projects by small producers. It is part of the National Program for Sustainable Rural Development (Pronaders).

Multibank has become the third bank to join the Panamanian Facilitation of Foreign Trade Financing Program (TFFP).

Through TFFP, the IDB offers guarantees to cover letters of credit, promissory notes, bid bonds, performance bonds, advance payment bonds and other instruments used in International Trade transactions.

IDB earmarks US$3.7 billion in loans for private sector

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) aims issue US$3.7 billion in loans to the private sector next year, said Steven J. Puig, the bank's vice president for private-sector lending.

Puig added that the IDB also hopes to increase its presence in Central America and the Caribbean. Two new officials are being hired in El Salvador to handle lending to major companies and small businesses respectively.
