$75 Million to Expand Tocumen Airport

Tocumen, the International Airport of Panama, subscribed a $75 million loan to build infrastructure.

A $75 million loan was subscribed between Tocumen International Airport, “Banco Nacional de Panama”, “Caja de Ahorros” and the Bank of Nova Scotia Panama, to build the northern section of Tocumen International airport, explained Finance Minister Frank De Lima.

De Lima added that the money will be used exclusively to build the north terminal, platform and administrative building, as well as remodeling the main façade, building the presidential salon and expanding the airport’s fuel distribution network.

British Company Interested in Tocumen Expansion

November 2011

The company Foster and Partners is interested in participating in work on the new terminal on the south side of Tocumen International Airport.

The company, which designed an airport in Hong Kong Airport and one in Shanghai has expressed interest in participating in the bidding process to be held next year, said the president of the Board of Tocumen, Frank de Lima, at the end of Panama Invest which took place in London and Paris.

Tocumen Airport Expansion 18% Ready

May 2010

The project to expand the main airport of Panama is 18% ready; it is scheduled to be ready on the second half of 2010.

When the works are finished, Tocumen International Airport will be capable of attending 10 million passengers a year, a 100% increase over its current transit of 4.7 million passengers.

Expansion of Tocumen Airport Begins

October 2009

On Monday 12, the administration of Tocumen S.A. will order the start of the expansion project at the airport.

The project, which includes erecting the northern terminal, was awarded to Colombian consortium Aerotocumen, which comprises builders Conconcreto and Odinsa Group.

Tocumen Expansion Ready in September

March 2011

The new terminal will be ready in September and will increase airport capacity by 50%.

It will have 12 new boarding gates and will be designed to receive any type of aircraft.

"Once the expansion is operating, the Tocumen administration will begin the process of constructing the southern terminal, which would add about 20 additional gates," states the article in Prensa.com.
