Advertising Increases 18% in Panama

For the first 8 months of 2009, advertising investment increased 18.3% when compared to 2008.

According to data from Ibope Time Panama, $248 million were invested in this period, $38 million more than 2008.

Publicist Mario Barletta told Pa-digital.com.pa: "Even though we expected a drop in advertising for 2009, due to the financial crisis, the results have been pretty positive".

Advertising Investment Increases by 22% in Panama

In the first quarter of the year, $82.7 million were invested in advertising, 22.3% more than for the same period in 2008.

Monica Urrutia, president of the Panamanian Association of Advertising Agencies (APAP), attributed this growth to the effects of the electoral campaign and increased investment from telecommunications companies.

In January 2009, nearly $23 million were invested, an increase of more than $3 million compared to January 2008.

Data from the General Accounting Office published in an article in prensa.com indicated that advertising investment reached $22.99 million in January 2009, an increase of 17% against the $19.652 million that was invested during the same period in 2008.

Panama: Advertising Investment Up 23%

July 2009

From January to May, $148.1 million were spent in advertising, 23.1% more than the same period of 2008.

The sectors with most growth were Television ads, 26%, and print ads, 18.8%, according to data from the General Comptroller of the Republic.

"Outdoor advertising reported a 37.9% growth, with an expenditure of $8.331.000 in the first five months of the year", published Panamá América in its website.

Online Advertising to Grow at 9% until 2014

A study by eMarketer predicts that online ad spending in Latin America will grow between 6% and 9% annually between 2010 and 2014.

According to the study, Latin America was the region which showed more strength against the recession, registering an online advertising growth of 13.3% in 2009 reaching $ 1,700 million. According to eMarketer, this trend will continue and reach $ 4,000 million in 2014.
