Agricultural Agreement Signed for $5.6 million

El Salvador has signed an agreement worth $5.6 million with the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC in Spanish) in order to strengthen agriculture.

The investment was made through the government program ‘Family Farming’. Jaime Miranda, Vice Minister of Development Cooperation of El Salvador, told EFE" ... it is a very important project (...), the amount is 5.6 million, of which one million we are putting up ourselves and the rest is being contributed by Brazil. "

Miranda explained that the amount will be spent on the "Program for Family Agriculture" and will "strengthen agriculture, organize technological innovation systems, revive and promote the breeding of cattle, renew coffee plantations, among other components, all at a national level", reported EFE.

$22 million in Brazilian Cooperation for El Salvador

The funds will go to social projects, both productive and humanitarian, that are aimed at groups that have been traditionally excluded.

These projects include various forms of cooperation including technical assistance, as well as humanitarian aid and financial support for different population segments, such as victims of sexual abuse, bodies of the civil protection system like the Fire Department and the agricultural sector and the Vocational Training Institute (INSAFORP).

El Salvador: $ 90 Million for Social Program

The European Union and the AECID funded part of the Caring Communities program with more than $ 90 million.

Through this agreement, both agencies agree to formulate, monitor and evaluate a new budget for the period 2011 to 2014. The agreement will provide a volume of government support of around 71 million Euros (about 94.8 million dollars).

Brazilian Agricultural Investigation Company (EMBRAPA) opens office in Honduras

A commission from EMBRAPA arrived on Sunday in Honduras to fine tune details for the installation of a regional office for Central America and the Caribbean.

Besides the setting up of the a regional office, they are looking to provide follow up to agreements signed by the presidents of Central America and Brazilian president, Lula Da Silva, last year in El Salvador.

El Salvador to Invest $2.56 Million in Fruit Production

The investment will focus on support programs for cooperatives, marketing and equipment acquisition.

Lourdes Quintanilla wrote in Laprensagrafica.com: "Fruit Cultivation and advice available for producers will have $2.56 million at their disposal this year on behalf of the state.
