Amway Could Move Operations To Costa Rica

Direct marketing giant Amway is planning an operations center in Costa Rica.

Michigan newspaper "The Grand Rapids Press" obtained a confidential memo from the company to its employees. In it, the organization communicates that it is planning an "enterprise process center" in Costa Rica. This center would consolidate financial operations and processes for the entire Americas region.

There is still no information as to how many jobs the company could create in Costa, but it is reported that the transition process would begin in the second quarter of 2010.

The marketing giant will open a financial operations center in April.

Craig V. Witcher, vice president of the U.S. company, confirmed the news, which was leaked by non-official sources on October 2009.

Witcher also detailed that their offices will be located in Forum 2, Lindora, Santa Ana, in the capital city of San José.

Amway Opens Service Center in Costa Rica

The direct sales company invested $2 million to open a service center.

The first shared service center for the Americas will provide financial and accounting services for the region and in its first two years of operation will generate 160 direct jobs.

"This is the company's first venture into the shared services market and with near-shoring outsourcing", reported newspaper La Prensa Libre.

BPO Firm Opens in El Salvador

With an investment of less than $1 million, the Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Company began operations in the country.

The company, which specializes in BPO (Business Process Outsourcing), has 30 job openings and it expects to have a staff of 50 people by the end of the year.

New Sykes Operations Center in Costa Rica

January 2012

Located south of the capital, in the area of Hatillo, the transnational will open its third hub in the country on February 2nd.

The company, which currently employs over 3,300 people at its two contact centers, has not yet released details of the investment.

"This is believed to be the first contact center in the country operating south of the metropolitan area.
