BCR to Offer Mobile Banking Services

A vehicle mounted with an ATM and with customer service facilities will enable clients to carry out any banking transaction.

The vehicle will use satellite technology to enable customers to carry out the transactions online.

"The cost of each unit is approximately $143k and will be used to deliver Banco de Costa Rica (BCR) services to customers attending large events as well as provide special services to the bank's client companies and institutions with particular needs, thereby widening its commercial offering," reports La Prensa Libre.

Banco Nacional bank is already sharing its platforms with the Bank of Costa Rica (BCR); this new accord with Bancredito will allow for the integration of the three State banks.

Using the internet, business owners at pharmacies, small shops, and mini supermarkets can attend to clients of the Bank who can access banking services in areas where it is not profitable to install a full branch.

Guatemala implements electronic bank transfers

The Bankers Association of Guatemala announce yesterday that the ACH system, or automatic compensation chamber, came into effect.

The system will allows clients to transfer money from one bank to another.

The service, which will be accessed via each banks' website (users must have online banking access), will initially be free of cost; however, as its use grows in the future, the banks may opt to start charging for the services based on their policies.
