Builders Try to Accelerate Sector’s Recovery

Exhibitors from Central America, Canada and the United States gather together in El Salvador for the International Fair ‘Construexpo 2012’.

Thursday, February 2, 2012

2012 kicks off with 140 exhibitors at the Construexpo event which aims to forge alliances and synergies that will promote the growth of a vital sector of the Salvadoran economy.

Mario Rivera, president of the Salvadoran Chamber of Construction Industry (Casalco), said the industry "continues to recover very slowly," according to ElSalvador.com.

Although in 2011 the sector's growth was 4% of GDP (El Salvador), it still has not reached the levels of 2008, before the economic crisis erupted in the U.S., said Rivera.

"The goal of the fair is to promote the growth of industry and revive its capacity as one of the most important sources of employment in the country, since it achieved its best numbers before the 2009 crisis. This challenge has been taken up by organizers ", reported the website.
