Business: The Triangle of Success

Vision, attitude and processes are the pillars which strengthen the sustainable growth of businesses.

Friday, July 1, 2011

The development of successful companies and people usually results from a combination of these three elements: vision, attitude and processes, which interact to enable sustainable business growth.

A large part of vision, is clearly understanding the commercial or personal goal that you want to achieve. That dream must be translated into concrete goals (specific, measurable, aggressive but achievable, with a date by which they must be met).

The second element is personal attitude. The attitude of enjoying what you do (and seeing your job more as fun than a liability).

When you enjoy what you do, you keep a permanent positive attitude, and the innate curiosity of being an "eternal student" in the area which is under development, which allows you to gradually transform into a true specialist.

Attitude also means daring to try and seek help when needed. We are often paralyzed by fear of failure. The recipe for success is aiming to do exactly those things that frighten us, and can gradually overcoming the fears that we were keeping us trapped.

The third element is processes. If we don’t capture our vision and attitude in a systematic and repeatable process, our success will be temporary.

Processes involve first of all discipline. Discipline to meet schedules, meet standards (ethical, honest and productive ones) that allow us to position ourselves in the minds of customers and future partners, as someone "with whom it pays to work."

Processes involve a series of actions that should generate a product, a value or benefit. A good practice is to pass every action through the filter of the question: "And what does this bring of value?" If the answer is nothing or very little, its better to stop doing it.

Carrying out any business presents problems. Avoid "choking" in the face of obstacles or adversity. In life, there are very few problems for which no solution has been found, at least look them up!

Successful relationships will help build successful companies.
