CAF Lends $20 Million To BBVA Panama

The Panamanian bank will in turn lend the funds to companies in need of expanding.

Enrique García, executive president of the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), stated that “operations such as this show the role that CAF plays in Latin America, strengthening those institutions which foster external trade, working capital and investment in low risk, high value-added sectors”.

García also expressed that “Latin America’s financial sector faces challenges and opportunities. This is why it is assuming and integrating sustainable development principles in all its activities, and why we are interested in strengthening it”.

Guatemalan Private Sector Rejects Loans for Aircraft

Representatives from chambers of commerce and from the Monetary Board have rejected contracts for 2 loans for $166 million for the purchase of aircraft.

Applications for loans of $133 million to the National Bank of Economic and Social Development of Brazil (BNDES) for the purchase of 6 Embraer aircraft and $33 million for the purchase of radars with Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA) of Spain are intended to finance a project submitted by the Ministry of Defense.

$5 Million for ProCredit Honduras

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and Banco ProCredit Honduras have signed an agreement to open a credit line to finance micro-companies and SMEs.

With the $5 million credit line ProCredit seeks to strengthen its portfolio of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Honduras.

Honduras: Atlántida Bank Expands “Green” Loans

The entity has received a $20 million IDB loan to expand its loan portfolio to operations with environmental sustainability.

The Inter-American Development Bank today announced the approval of a "green" facility with $30 million going to Banco Atlantida in Honduras to support lending to environmentally sustainable projects.

The IIC and Café Britt Costa Rica S.A. sign an agreement for a loan of up to US$4 million

The Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC) signed a loan agreement for up to US$4 million with Café Britt Costa Rica S.A., a subsidiary of Grupo Britt, N.V.

This IIC loan will provide Café Britt S.A. with appropriate permanent working capital financing that will help it plan its operating funding requirements at the regional level.
