Various sectors in the advertising industry, media, attorneys, consumer organizations and human rights groups are criticizing the government´s bill, reported the article by Laura Rodriguez Rojas and Ramon H. Potosme of Elnuevodiario.com.ni.

Sofia Montenegro, Executive Director of the Center for Communications Research and privacy policy commentated: "This is part of a black code to stifle the media."

Octaviana Icaza, Secretary of the Board of ONAP (Nicaraguan Organization of Advertising Agencies): "This makes no sense, considering Nicaragua has a comprehensive regulatory framework which protects consumers from any false advertising."

Marvin Pomares, Executive Director of the INDEC (Nicaraguan Institute for Consumer Defense): "This is a bureaucratic matter that will only end up harming the same consumers it claims to defend."

Alvaro Leiva Sánchez, General Counsel of the Permanent Human Rights Commission, "this has no legal grounds, there must be extreme caution with this legislation, because there have been many attempts by the government to restrict freedom of expression of opposition media and to try and drown them financially.”
