A press release from the Presidency of the Republic of Honduras reads:
The President Porfirio Lobo Sosa, announced ..., that Brazil will help Honduras on the issue of security through social programs that complement the actions of "Operation Lightning Strike" running in different parts of the country.
"It is not only about fighting crime, but also doing work on reintegrating society through various programs that allow young people to excel in different areas. President Dilma Rousseff told me that this has had great success in Brazil. For this reason, in the first weeks of January 2012, Foreign Minister Arturo Corrales will go to the South American country with a committee to study this novel project.
Rousseff told his Honduran colleague that several entrepreneurs have shown interest in the charter cities project.
"The discussion has been about having better control and support for businesses under a free trade agreement between Honduras and Brazil, where businesses from both nations can benefit," he said.
He said that Honduras has full diplomatic relations with nations such as Argentina and Brazil. He reported that the Chancellor has instructed Arturo Corrales to conduct ongoing assessments in the various embassies to determine which ones are giving positive results.
He added that through diplomatic missions, "the aim is for the investments that are made to yield the results that people expect, because if there are no results it is better to readjust these embassies to countries where we get favorable results for the population, because the goal is to bring investment to create jobs, promote tourism, as well as aid programs in different branches.
