China Trade Mission in Costa Rica

Chinese businessmen are seeking to strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation with Costa Rica.

A press release from Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Trade states:

The Foreign Trade Corporation (PROCOMER in Spanish) and the Sichuan Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT in Spanish) are to sign a cooperation agreement.

On November 17, the Minister of Foreign Trade, Anabel Gonzalez, and the Director General of the Ministry, Federico Valerio, met with the Vice-Governor of Sichuan Province, Huang Xiaoxiang, who analyzed the trade and investment opportunities offered by Costa Rica to this province in China.

The Vice-Governor is leading a delegation of businessmen who are visiting the country to assess the potential of the Costa Rican market and establish contacts for possible business. During the meeting, the national authorities expressed Costa Rica’s interest in promoting investment from Sichuan businesses and promoting trade relations. The delegation also met with representatives of the Foreign Trade Promoter (PROCOMER), who facilitated the process to consolidate business opportunities.

The visit includes technical training, exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations and tastings of products. It also allows the exchange of information on trade and economic interests, trade rules and regulations, and the promotion of business opportunities and cooperation projects.

Costa Rica Wants More Trade with BRIC

The Ministry of Foreign Trade will visit India between 15th and 25th March seeking new business opportunities,

Foreign Trade Minister, Anabel Gonzalez said that for the second semester a similar visit is planned to Russia and Brazil.

The visit to India is "... part of the plan to reach out to the group of countries known as BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China).
