Copa Airlines Announces Four New Destinations

Copa Airlines will operate 4 new destinations starting from June. The destinations are: Recife, Brazil; Guanacaste, Costa Rica; Las Vegas, USA; and the island of Curacao.

A press release from Copa Airlines states that “Passengers departing from or transiting through the Hub of the Americas, the hub of Copa Airlines, Tocumen International Airport in Panama, via these new flights will have access to a network which consists of a total of 63 destinations in 29 countries throughout North, Central and South America and the Caribbean.

Similarly, as part of the Panamanian airline’s sound strategic plan, Copa will add to its fleet this year ten (10) new Boeing 737-800 Next Generation craft, a yearly amount that the airline has sustained since last year and with which it will increase its fleet to next generation technology 83 aircraft.

Copa made these announcements in the context of the presentation of its new corporate campaign and achievements in 2011, the year in which the airline carried approximately 8.8 million passengers and experienced an increase in capacity of more than 21%, compared with 2010.

Copa Announces New Flight to Chicago

As of December 15, 2011, Copa Airlines will operate a new nonstop service between Chicago and Panama.

Chicago will then become the sixth Copa Airlines destination in the United States. The airline announced the new service at a press conference held in New York to celebrate the fifth anniversary of its listing on the New York Stock Exchange and to announce its expansion plans.

Copa to launch direct flights to Belo Horizonte, Brazil

July 2008

Panama's Copa Airlines will inaugurate direct flights from Panama City to Belo Horizonte, Brazil on August 21.

Belo Horizonte will be Copa's 42nd destination and its fourth in Brazil, where it already flies to Rio, Sao Paulo and Manaus. Copa passengers from Mexico, the United States, Central American and the Caribbean, will be able to join the flights in Panama City without passing through Customs or Migration.

Copa Signs Deal for 10 Boeing Aircraft

November 2010

Copa announced the signing of a lease for ten new Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Five will be delivered in 2011 and the balance in 2012. Copa Airlines already has commitments for the delivery of 33 aircraft, all Boeing 737-800.

"These new leases represent a new impulse to our expansion plans and give us the opportunity to further strengthen our leadership position as a regional hub", said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.
