Corpus Christi Port Looking for More Business in Panama

Company representatives met with the Canal Authority in order to assess new business opportunities.

Friday, November 18, 2011

The operators of one of the most important shipping ports of the United States met with the President of the Canal Authority, Alberto Zubieta, to discuss ways to attract more business to the Canal and to find solutions to manage the increased traffic that will be generated with the expansion of the canal in 2014.

This meeting is a follow-up to the memorandum of understanding signed by both parties in September, which aims to strengthen the business alliance and generate new business.

An article on Caller.com states: "The CEO of the Corpus Christi port, Mike Carrell, said another possibility for managing the increase in traffic that will be generated is to establish a place where larger vessels can pass their cargo to smaller boats and from there to different parts of the port.
