Costa Rica Hosts Assembly of Convention Organizers

Some 250 businesspeople dedicated to the planning of conventions will participate in the meeting in San José from the 10th to the 14th of March.

Honduras to Host Conference Organizers Assembly

February 2012

From 12th to 16th the country will host the XXIX Congress of the Federation of Conference Organizers and Allies of Latin America.

Under the theme "New trends in the conference industry: the challenge of finding opportunity in changing markets," the event will take place in the city of San Pedro Sula, according to the National Chamber of Tourism of Honduras (Canaturh).

Tourism businessmen created the Central America Bureu to promote the region as a business tourism destination.

Roberto Robles, director of the Guatemalan Tourism Institute (Inguat), explained that CAB will ‘simplify, foster and promote the regional integration of policies and activities to strengthen this industry’.

The Competition for Convention Tourism

The countries of the region are compete for organizing events and conferences whose participants spend on average $1,200 per day.

Panama, Colombia and Costa Rica are building new convention centers to be opened in 2014, a major effort that aims to achieve a good slice of the cake that is convention tourism.

Panama: European group to buy Congrexpo

November 2008

Congrexpo, which is dedicated to planning, organizing and carrying out congresses, was purchased by the European group Congrex Holding.

The acquisition includes Congrexpo International which is based in Panama and Congrex Costa Rica, reported the president of the company, Diego Fernandez de Cordoba, who preferred not to give more details about the amount of the transaction.
