A press release from the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Costa Rica states:
Business people, leaders of international institutions and government representatives will participate today and tomorrow in Lima, Peru, in the China Business Summit, Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), the principal forum for trade and investment between that country and the region. They will analyze and discuss issues related to competitiveness, emerging markets, public-private synergies and even address business opportunities offered by the next World Cup.
This annual Summit allows participants to strengthen and expand trade links through the exchange of ideas and experiences. The Minister of Foreign Trade, Anabel Gonzalez, participated in this exchange in the opening session panel, "New Balance Global, International Trade Trends and Implications for Latin America and China." She shared this space with her Peruvian counterpart Jose Luis Silva, the Deputy Governor of Sichuan Province, China, Huang Xiaoxiang and the Director of World Trade Centers Association, Annie S. C. Wu. The moderator was COMEXPERU President, Alfonso García Miró.

Chinese businessmen are seeking to strengthen trade, investment and economic cooperation with Costa Rica.
A press release from Costa Rica’s Ministry of Foreign Trade states:
The Foreign Trade Corporation (PROCOMER in Spanish) and the Sichuan Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT in Spanish) are to sign a cooperation agreement.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade will visit India between 15th and 25th March seeking new business opportunities,
Foreign Trade Minister, Anabel Gonzalez said that for the second semester a similar visit is planned to Russia and Brazil.
The visit to India is "... part of the plan to reach out to the group of countries known as BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China).

In the Peruvian capital, the negotiating teams of both countries have concluded negotiations for a free trade agreement.
"This is a treaty of great renown for small and medium enterprises because it opens up a market of 30 million people with increasing purchasing power, Peru will grow by 7.5% this year – it is a nearby country with good transportation routes and which shares the same language and customs, " said the Minister of Foreign Trade, Anabel González.

The Free Trade Agreement between Costa Rica and China will come into effect on August 1, 2011.
The Costa Rican Ministry of Foreign Trade has indicated that they have fulfilled all the necessary operating procedures and exchange of diplomatic documents corresponding to the FTA with China which goes into effect on 1 August.
