Costa Rica Tourism Grows by 4.6% and Seeks Expansion

The Costa Rican Institute of Tourism is looking to multiply the number of flights to Costa Rica with connections to destinations in South America, the USA and Europe, said the minister, Allan Flores.

"Figures from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) show that during last year, Costa Rica received nearly 2.2 (million) international tourists, in other words 96,131 more than in 2010, growing by 4.6%. Of the total entries, about 1.2 million arrived by way of the Juan Santamaria International Airport and just over 264,000 via Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport," reported Misfinanzasenlinea in its online edition.

Flores explained that in 2012, the aim is to continue growing by positioning the country as a destination at international fairs and promoting its attractions in large markets.

The flight from Dusseldorf, Germany, will go to Daniel Oduber International Airport, stopping in Cancun, Mexico.
