Costa Rica to Launch Online Investment Web Portal

Next Friday 10 September the Ministry for Trade will officially launch the E-regulations site.

"E-regulations Costa Rica" is an online database conceived as a completely transparent source of information on Costa Rican investment procedures.

"The website aims to be a user-friendly information platform providing assistence to anyone, whether local or foreign, wanting to navigate the world of procedures, permits and regulations governing the setting up of a business in Costa Rica," reports Ana Cristina Camacho for El Financiero.

The site will offer detailed information on the procedures to be followed in order to carry out any kind of investment in the country.

The website, http://elsalvador.e-regulations.org, contains information on various procedures in at least 14 government institutions.

"The site will also be useful to foreign investors since import and real estate rules will also be made available, as well as regulations relating to the purchase of stocks and shares," reports Laprensagrafica.com.

Procedures for Investing in Guatemala

The website http://guatemala.eregulations.org provides information on procedures for conducting business in the country.

Information is detailed on procedures, costs, contacts, forms and public office documents.

The initiative is part of the e-Regulations system, driven by the Global Transparency Network.

Costa Rica: Procedures for Starting a Business Streamlined

From 2012 the government will be offering a Digital Home Business System, which will reduce the time it takes to start a business to 20 days.

Currently it takes up to 60 days to complete the various formalities required for starting a business, which places the country among the slowest in the region, according to a global Doing Business report.

The Costa Rican government has announced successes in de-bureaucratizing the country, but employers say that in reality plans to make it happened haven’t actually been put into action.

The business sector does acknowledge that some progress has been made, but is asking for better coordination between the different entities involved in issuing permits.
