El Salvador: Hotel Chain Seeks Franchisees

The chain, Choice Hotels International, plans to expand in the country offering new franchises.

Rodolfo Giullioli, development and strategy director of Real Hotels & Resorts, said that in recent months meetings have been held with potential partners that meet the quality standards required by the chain.

"One of the first to join the chain will be the Hotel Suites Las Palmas, located in the Zona Rosa in San Salvador, which from 1. November will become the Clarion Suites San Salvador. Others already are in the process of adapting to changes in the region, and by the end of the year we will have a total of five new franchise operators, including two brands: Clarion Suites in Honduras and Ascend Collection in Costa Rica", reported Leonel Ibarra in his article Laprensagrafica.com

Franchises in Costa Rica Up 14.6%

According to a 2010 study by the Chamber of Commerce, 22 new franchises were identified in relation to 2009.

There are 172 franchises currently operating in the country of which 14% are in San Jose. Of the 147 international franchises, 59% are of U.S. origin.

"According to the study, there are 1.432 establishments operating in the country, of which 571 (38%) are national franchises and 861 (62%) are international," informed Elfinancierocr.com.

Uruguayan brand offers franchise in El Salvador

Lolita, a chain of female clothing stores from Uruguay is seeking to expand in the country.

The initial amount to be invested in the franchises will be approximately between 50 and 75 thousand dollars, including the costs of transport, merchandise, import duties and infrastructure, commented Ricardo Teran, franchise representative.

Franchises Expanding in Panama

Franchise operations in the country are planning new openings for this year, 2012, driven by economic growth.

Such is the case of Wing Zone Panama which has three restaurants in the country, and plans this year to open five new branches, said Adalberto Ferrer managing partner of the chain.
