El Salvador Requests IDB $ 300 Million

The programs are: Support for export production, Urban Community Solidarity Development, City Woman, North and East Rural Connectivity, Passenger Transport in the Metropolitan Area of San Salvador (AMSS), power sector reform, strengthening of Justice and Security.

The announcement was made by Gina Montiel, manager of the Inter-American Development Bank for Central America.

Yesterday Fomilenio received the first bids for the project, which has assigned $11 million.

These proposals will be analyzed for the first phase of the project in which 10 contracts will be awarded for small-scale works. During 2010, Fomilenio will award 60 more.

José Ángel Quirós, head of Fomilenio, commented that its entity will finance 100% of the construction of each sub project, and each community will contribute 20% of its maintenance, either with payments in kind (materials or workforce) or in cash.

Salvadoran Congress To Decide On $531 Million Loans

The Treasury Ministry of El Salvador requested the Legislative Assembly to approve six loans for $531 million with international organizations.

From the total, $200 million are with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), $161.7 million with the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) and $170 million with the World Bank (WB).

Guatemala: $ 616 Million Without Approval

Congress has pending approval of 10 loans totaling $ 616 million for social projects.

Of the total 10, four are pending opinion, three have passed the first debate and three more are awaiting the second debate.
