Exports from Mexico to Central America Increase

In 2010 the country's food exports from the north to the isthmus increased by 25%.

Product sales from Mexico to the Central American countries totaled more than $644 million last year, far exceeding the previous year's figures.

This significant increase has led to an improvement in the results of the trade balance, growth from sales in recent years has generated a trade surplus that has reversed the previous downward trend.

An article in Prensa.com article notes: "the main Central American countries to which Mexico exports are Guatemala, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua and Belize. The products shipped are baby food, avocado, onions, malt beer, wheat flour, tequila, sugar syrup, chocolates and prepared foods. "

Honduran agricultural exports increase by 18%

Last year there were $540 million in agricultural exports to the US and total bilateral trade in agricultural products is now adding up to almost $800 million.

Compared to the 2006-2007 period, the country had an increase in agricultural products of 17%, and for this year the expected growth is 20%.

Nicaraguan Exports Growing at Slower Pace

The July-September quarter has proved to be the period with the lowest export growth so far in 2011.

A report by the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN in Spanish) notes, "that although the overall export performance continues to show good results, they are supported by high prices in international markets."
