The properties include lots, houses, condos, apartments and unfinished developments which form part of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica’s assets, repossessed from customers who defaulted on their loans.
An article by Juan Pablo Arias in Nacion.com explains that "’The level of participation was not as expected, this is a new procedure in Costa Rica’, said Miguel Fiatt, representative of the chamber, who also commented that ‘in the bidding there were only 15 people eligible to be granted any of the properties.' "
The organizers said a new auction will be scheduled for December, with a portfolio of properties to be offered with a base price of 50% of the appraised value.
