A press release from the Salvadoran Federation for Social and Economic Development(Fusades) reads:
The main feature of the process, will be to join efforts between the private and public sector to harness the potential of El Salvador to grow in its ability to participate in the global economy.
This will create a network that brings together the most competitive knowledge possessed by Salvadoran businessmen and professionals who can identify and prioritize the actions that the country must implement to systematically increase productivity, employment and social welfare, and consequently economic growth and the welfare of society.
This network seeks to develop the capacity to build national agreement defining the strategy and tactics necessary to implement an annual assessment and accountability on the impact of the improvements on competitiveness in each of the areas addressed.

Guatemala's government has presented the National Competitiveness Agenda 2012-2021 to the public, a plan that aims to fight poverty, strengthen the economy, attract investment and promote development. The plan contains more than 400 specific actions.

Representatives of the Competitiveness Initiative presented diagnostics and proposed solutions in education and business, infrastructure, procedures and access to markets and investments.
In the past eight years, El Salvador fell 43 places in the ranking of the World Economic Forum on Competitiveness. In 2011 it ranked 91 out of 142 countries, while in 2003 it was at position 43.

A group of representatives from the private sector and the university sector have created a Competitiveness Council (CPC in Spanish).
In order to attract more foreign investment, among other things, the group composed of professionals and academics have decided to create a group to provide recommendations to the government to improve competitiveness.

The Ministry of Economy of El Salvador has made available to employers a portfolio of funds to be disbursed during the year.
