Galores Logistics to Invest $30 Million in Panama

The Brazilian company Galores Logistics will build five distribution centers in Panama, with an investment of $30 million.

The general director of Galores Logistics, Rafael Rocha, told Pa-digital.com.pa that "the refrigeration technology that will be introduced to the market will allow the company to provide a complete service with storage warehouses, refrigerated trucks, product packing and shipping," and that the company "will focus its attention on non-traditional fruit and vegetables, livestock, poultry and seafood product exports, among others."

"This new logistics management will allow the company to enter a high demand market and address the existing logistics services for perishable foods.

Tical Inaugurates Distribution Center in Costa Rica

Grupo Tical Holding will open a $15 million logistics center on November 3.

It spans over 50.000 square meters, and includes a bonded warehouse, storehouses and distribution facilities.

"Rolando Cordero, CEO of the group, explained their 4-step investment plan: this $15 million center is the first phase, and additional similar projects will be done in the next three years, in which we will invest $35 million", reported Elfinancierocr.com.

Tical Invests in Costa Rican Distribution Centers

With an investment of $11.5 million, the new distribution center would be ready in El Coyol, Alajuela, in August.

The new center will employ 50 people and according to Rolando Lamb, general manager of the group, it will have 10 thousand square meters for the bonded warehouse and an equal area for the entry and exit of trucks.

Cold Chain in Food Storage

It is crucial to control the temperature in a constant way.
The cold chain is the constant temperature control at all stages of a food product, from production to consumption, keeping it in the same temperature range and ensuring, thus, its good condition. It is called "chain" because it is made up of different stages, and if some are compromised, it could result in damage to the quality and safety of the product.


Cases of health damage due to the cold chain breaking up are increasing in developed countries, according to World Health Organization, in up to 30% per year.


Low temperatures not only ensure the organoleptic characteristics of food (texture, flavor, odor, color), but also stop reproduction of microorganisms and delay the loss of food quality. However, we must not forget that the cold does not kill microorganisms or stop the metabolic activity of its components, only slows their growth and food spoilage.
