Gas Distributor to Set Up in Honduras

The Mexican Zeta Gas Company, an importer and exporter of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas), will invest about $6 million in the operation.

Fredis Cerrato, Honduran Industry and Trade Secretary, reported to latribuna.hn that the company will operate throughout the country and that "it will start with a fleet of 100 trucks, creating 250 direct and 1,500 indirect jobs."

Zeta Gas to Invest $1.5 million in El Salvador

The company has opened the first liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) plant, out of the twenty that it plans to open in the country.

The plant, located at km. 135.5 of the Pan American Highway, has storage capacity for 3,000 gallons and is the first of its kind in the country.

"The manager of Zeta Gas El Salvador, Magali Benavides said motorists can save up to 20% on the cost of oil and filters, as well as extending the life of spark plugs, because it does not produce carbon and other impurities.

Gas dispute blights Costa Rica trade deal with Mexico

The 1995 free trade agreement between Mexico and Costa Rica is under threat as the result of a dispute over liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the fuel of preference in much of the region.

The Mexican companies that distribute LPG in Costa Rica claim that the government discriminates against them, even though they comply with all of the nation's regulations as well as those of the FTA.

Alba Petroleos Plant Starts Operations in Acajutla

The plant, capable of storing 350,000 barrels of fuel, will be inaugurated on May 19.

The plant built with an investment of $115 million, is owned by Alba Petroleum, a company formed by Salvadoran municipalities and the Venezuelan state oil company PDVSA.

Luz Estrella Rodríguez, vice president of Petroleos Alba told the media that within ten days the company will begin marketing liquefied gas, and making its debut in the Salvadoran market.

Alba Petróleos will Commercialize Gas in El Salvador

The company announced plans to venture into the liquefied gas market starting January 2011.

Luz Estrella Rodríguez, vice president of Alba Petroleum, made the announcement adding they are currently conducting a market study.

According to Laprensagrafica.com, "…..with regards to construction of a storage facility in Acajutla, Rodriguez said this required an additional investment of approximately $ 10 million, which was covered by their partner, Venezuelan state company PDVSA”.
