Guatemala: Inflation Reaches 5.44% in January

The consumer price index shows for the month of January a variation of 5.44%, reported the Institute of Statistics and Censuses.

The consumer price index (CPI) measures the average change in prices of a group of goods and services corresponding to the most important items among households expenses (ENIGFAM 2009-2010). This index is based on a comparison with December 2010.

The indicator in January registered an accumulated a monthly variation of 0.09% and interannually of 5.44%.

The change from December 2009 to November 2010 of the General Price Index was 6.11%, 3.54% more than the annual variation in the same period last year (2.57%).

The variation from July 2010 to June 2011 of the General Index is 5.18%, down 1.13% compared to the variation in the same period last year, which was 6.31%.

Costa Rica: Lowest Inflation Since 1978

This low level of price increases is mainly due to less economic activity.

12-month inflation, a measure of the variation of prices when compared to one year ago, is at record lows. However, in the last two months the average price increase has been 0.78%, considerably above the 0.2% average for the first half of the year.

Costa Rica: In 11 Month Inflation Reaches 3,79%

December 2011

Accumulated variation from January to November is 3,79% with Transport and Education being the groups having the most affect on inflation.
