Guatemala Seeks International Investors

The Guatemalan government is committed to public-private partnerships that encourage investment in infrastructure.

Thursday, November 17, 2011

Airports, ports and national highways could be built with input from the private sector through the creation of the new Council for the Promotion of Public-Private Partnerships, which aims to stimulate infrastructure projects crucial for the economic development of the country.

The first task to be performed by the council will be the implementation of the National Agency of Partnerships for Infrastructure Development, which will be responsible for monitoring the projects developed under this framework.

The construction of airports, specifically the expansion of the La Aurora International Airport, could benefit from this new initiative.

An article on airport-world.com reads: “La Aurora airport has tempted many private investors, such as Confiasa and El Bosque, who will build the largest warehouse complex in Central America and Plaza Tecnológica Aeropuerto."
