Honduras: Atlántida Bank Associates with IFC

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, announced today that Atlántida Bank of Honduras has joined the Global Program for trade financing of the IFC, which will help the bank to access a world trade network and strengthen its support to SMEs that are dedicated to the import or export of goods in the country.

Atlántida Bank, the second bank in Honduras to join the Global Program for trade financing of the IFC has already begun to use its commercial lines for financing transactions of pre-export activities for a total of $5 million, which will contribute to the international trade of foodstuffs such as sugar.

Guillermo Bueso, Director General of Atlántida Bank, said: "We are pleased to be part of the Global Trade Finance of the IFC, which will allow us to better support our commercial customers. This new relationship will promote economic development by increasing the potential for companies from Honduras to become involved in international trade."

According to a press release from the IFC, the initiative will help create jobs and promote economic growth in Honduras.

Banpaís Joins IFC Program

IFC announced that the Honduran Bank has joined its global financing for foreign trade program.

Its participation in the program will allow Banpaís to expand its financial transactions to foreign trade with an extensive global network of banks and improve Honduran companies’ access to credit lines for trade.
