In terms of investment in the sector, the total was $179 million, 12.6% higher compared to the same period in 2010.
According to data from the Central Bank of Honduras, investment in the residential sector was $77 million, and in the commercial sector it was $52.5 million.
"Private construction showed a smaller decline as compared to the same period last year, driven mainly by the fact that its projects were for the commercial sector, which grew 69.2% by August 2011; this purpose being second in importance within the building industry after residential.
This has advanced the progress in the implementation of infrastructure projects for the commercial sector (mainly the Premier Mall and City Mall in the Central District) ", reported Heraldo.hn.
