Honduras: Export of Auto Parts Increases by 28%

In the first half of the year companies operating in free zones exported 28% more vehicle parts.

Sales of electrical parts and transport equipment increased by $44.1 million, going from $157.6 million to $201.8 million in the period analyzed. This was revealed by a report by the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH).

An article Elherado.hn reported that the study says, "This increase, is a result of the launch of new economic models and dynamic vehicles by General Motors, who has been helped by the fall in production of major Japanese automakers.".

Guatemalan Exports Grow by 22%

The exporters' association estimates that this year foreign sales will exceed $10 billion.

The rise in international demand and improved prices has led the Guatemalan association of exporters (Agexport) to revise upward its forecast for exports this year.

In early 2011, industry representatives predicted an increase of just 8%, well below the current estimated range of 18% to 22%.

Guatemalan Exports Up 14.5%

Foreign sales in January reported $ 768.2 million, 14.5% more than the $ 671.1 million in the same period of 2010.

Data reported by Banco de Guatemala indicate that the biggest growth was in sales of traditional products, which increased 25.6%, noting that exports to Central America totaled $ 186.5 million.

Guatemalan exports to Central American region doubles

Exports to the other Central American countries went from $642.4 million to $1.01 billion, an increase of 57.7%.

According to elperiodico.com.gt, "The increase in sales is due to greater demand as a result of CAFTA-DR.

All together, exports have provided $4.84 billion in earnings for the country, some $808.3 million more than the previous year, according to a December 11 report from the Bank of Guatemala (Banguat)."

El Salvador's Exports Increased by 9% in January

February 2012

Exports totalled $448.7 million in January 2012, a growth of 9.8% in value and 12.6% in volume compared to January 2011.

Included in the total exports are those of traditional products, whose sales grew at an annual rate of 39.1%, reported the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) of El Salvador.
