Hotel DoubleTree By Hilton Opens in Panama

With a $30 million, the new hotel has opened its doors in the Panamanian capital as part of the multinational hotel chain.

The hotel will have 213 rooms of which 18 will be executive suites, 60 will be doubles and 117 will be "Kings". It plans cater for every kind of tourist and visitor.

There will be a large open lobby, concierge service and valet parking as well as conference facilities, gym, restaurant and bar. In addition, on the roof guests will be able to sit in a pool with panoramic views of Panama City.

The new Hilton DoubleTree hotel will be located near the Old City, 20 minutes from Tocumen international hotel and close to the capital city's Multicentro and Albrook Mall shopping facilities.

The project is seen as supporting the increase in the flow of foreign currency into Panama since during an average stay a visitor to the hotel will spend about $957.

Still Not Enough Tourists For So Many Hotels

Hotel occupancy in Panama has dropped by two percentage points in the first months of the year, and it is estimated that by 2012 the occupancy rate will fall to 38%.

In the race for growth between the number of tourists arriving in Panama, and the supply of available beds, the latter is winning, and it is estimated that it wont be until 2016 that the current occupancy rates are achieved again.

With an investment of $13 million, the Hotel Victoria will open its doors on August 5 in the Panamanian capital.


The new 127 room hotel will serve the corporate business segment, said Carlos Herrera, a company representative.

It is estimated that during 2011 there will be approximately five thousand new rooms available in the capital city.

Grupo Poma have invested more than 5 million to build 120-room hotel.

In order to expand options for business travelers and tourism in the city of Panama, Real Hotels and Resorts chain, a subsidiary of Grupo Poma in Central America, will open this month the second hotel by the Marriott chain in the country.

Grace Hotels to Invest $18 Million in Panama

The 60-room boutique hotel will be administered by F&F Properties.

Opening is scheduled for April 2012.

"Grace Hotels is part of Libra Group, a global conglomerate owned by the Logothetis family, which made its wealth trough sea trade ventures. In addition to Grace Hotels, F&F Properties is building the Hilton Panama hotel and the Waldorf Astoria Panamera", reported Prensa.com.
