With the publication of this Law in the Official Newspaper, the 250 Costa Rican companies dedicated to community-based tourism can initiate the process to choose a system of incentives and exemptions under Act 8724, in force since November 2009, designate rural community tourism activities as follows:
a) Rural guest tourism: the type of establishment with a minimum of three rooms with private bathroom, which can provide food services and is located in a rural environment, defined by the ICT.
b) Travel agencies specializing in rural community tourism, establishments located in rural areas which offer local tourist destinations.
c) Thematic activities specializing in community-based tourism: An area designed to provide tourist services and / or rescue of cultural heritage, tangible or intangible.
d) Food and beverage services, rural restaurants, eateries, local foods, sodas and home delivery of typical national food.
