Inflation reaches 3.17% in Guatemala

In the first quarter of the year inflation reached 3.17%.

The CPI in April 2011 showed a value of 103.17, the previous month’s figure was 102.52, making the monthly variation 0.63%, this variation is less than the previous month (0.92%).

Expenditure groups that made the most impact on the CPI in April 2011 were foods, nonalcoholic beverages, housing, water, electricity, gas, other fuels and transportation.

The products which determined the behavior of group expenditure in the catagory of food and nonalcoholic beverages were: Sugar (7.84%) Tortillas (3.21%) and Tomatos (8.08%).

In the group comprising of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, most noticeable was the rise in wood (3.90%) various materials for housing repair (1.85%), housing maintenance services (0.10%) and propane gas (0.06%).

Regarding the transport group there were notable variations in superior grade gasoline (3.49%) regular gasoline (4.21%), diesel (2.83%) and extra-urban bus services (0.88%).

Costa Rica Closes 2011 with 4.74% Inflation

According to information from the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), the yearly variation (January-December 2011) is 4.74%, which is less than the variation in 2010 (5.82%).

The general level of the consumer price index in December was 149.862, which represents a variation of 0.92% compared with the index for the month of November (148.502).

Accumulated variation from January to November is 3,79% with Transport and Education being the groups having the most affect on inflation.

Annual Inflation in Costa Rica Reaches 6.11%

December 2010

The change from December 2009 to November 2010 of the General Price Index was 6.11%, 3.54% more than the annual variation in the same period last year (2.57%).

The National Institute of Statistics and Census reports the main results of the Consumer Price Index for the month of November 2010.
