The Guatemalan Tourism Institute (Inguat), in alliance with the Tourism Chamber (Camtur), launched the website "Last Minute to Guatemala", where tour operators, hotels, car rentals and restaurants can publish special offers, with a minimum 25% discount over the listed price.

An article in Elperiodico.com.gt reports that "the launch of www.lastminutetoguatemala.com is part of a strategy to overcome the negative impact of the crisis in the tourism industry. According to Inguat data, 805.345 tourists arrived to the country in the first half of 2009, 2.9% less than the same period of 2008. This contraction become steeper in May and June, reaching 12-month variations of -20.1% and -18.8%, respectively".
