McDonald's Expands in Costa Rica

With the opening of a restaurant in Liberia, Guanacaste, the total number of stores for the chain comes to 33 in the country.

The store has capacity for 140 customers and it is located at the entrance of Liberia, near the Bramadero Hotel.

Elfinancierocr.com printed the statements Paola Badilla, marketing manager for McDonald's in Costa Rica: "The store will operate with 45 employees. It was built in an area of 2,089 square meters, of which 390 meters comprise the store. It has parking space for 22 vehicles, capacity for 140 customers and a play area."

Costa Rica: McDonald's opens first "ecological" restaurant

The $2 million restaurant maximizes usage of natural light and does not need air conditioning.

Located in Lindora, Santa Ana, western San José, it has 400 square meters of construction. It employs 50 people, and is the chain's 34th store in the country.

According to Arcos Dorados, McDonald's operator in Costa Rica and Latin America, this is the first "ecological" restaurant in Central America.

The Golden Arches (McDonald's) increases investment in the region

The Golden Arches group, which manages the McDonald's franchise in Central America, announce that Costa Rica and Panama will receive an investment of more than $3 million in remodeling and new restaurants.

Loney Armijo, regional operations director of Golden Arches, said that they will be investing some $3.5 million in Panama in 2008 and 2009.

McDonald's to Open Three More Stores in Panama

Each of these new restaurants will involve an investment of between $800 thousand and $1 million.

Two of the stores are located in the Albrook Mall and one on the road to the National Stadium.

Loney Armijo, regional director for McDonald's told La Estrella de Panama that "the restaurant chain continues to innovate with stores working 24 hours a day and the opening ice cream kiosks in different parts of the country."

McDonald's to Open Four Branches in Costa Rica

By the end of the year, the multinational fast food chain plans to open four new restaurants.

Arcos Dorados, owner of the Costa Rican McDonald's franchise, expects to hire 300 people to work in the new restaurants.

Maureen Dávila, human resources manager for McDonald’s Costa Rica, commented to Elfinancierocr.com that, “the location of the new restaurants is still being studied and negotiated so we cannot disclose that information at the moment”.
