New Tender for Supervision of Works for $6.5 million

The Social Security Department has put out to tender again the inspection and control of works on the City Hospital project.

The overall objective of the tender to contract inspection services and supervision of works for the Social Security Department’s 'Ciudad Hospitalaria' (City Hospital) project .

The services will be provided at the construction site of the project, in the old field of antennas Chivo Chivo. The contracted company will have to coordinate with the constructor so that the latter sets up, at its own expense, a working office of 100 square meters of office space, next to the constructor's offices.

Bids must be submitted on 19th December 2011.

Not Enough Inspectors to Certify Construction Works

The regulator of the Municipality of Panama has only 10 inspectors to certify conditions of works.

The lack of technicians has meant that the timescale for inspection, which previously was a month, has now stretched to more than three months. In order to meet the current needs, 45 inspectors are needed, said the director of building and construction, Juan Manuel Vasquez.
