Wednesday, November 30, 2011

A press release from the National Authority of Public Services in Panama reads:

Panama became on Tuesday (November 29, 2011) the first country in the region to implement number portability after the National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) formally launched this service, which will enable customers to own the eight digits of their number without having to pay for the service, or make large transactions.

The administrator of the ASEP, Zelmar Rodríguez Crespo said that number portability will bring great benefits to customers / users, but in turn, enormous challenges for telephone companies.

He said the process will be quick and expeditious, and take less than twenty-four (24) hours, provided the request was made during working hours and days.

"The lack of number portability was a barrier that hindered or prevented the decision to change operators. By removing barriers of this nature, it has undoubtedly strengthen competition, resulting in greater efficiency, more innovation and the possibility of better offers and services that benefit users ", said the manager of the ASEP.

Customers interested in making the bearing should go to the company of your choice, to present identification or passport and complete the application in question.
