Office Depot Jobs Moved to Guatemala

The office supplies giant has eliminated 80 jobs in the U.S. and transferred them to India and Guatemala.

Since the beginning of the year Office Depot has been in the process of cutting jobs at its headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida, as a result of lower sales during the U.S. recession which have forced them cut costs in order to maintain adequate levels of efficiency.

The jobs that have been transferred from the area are: general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable.

An article in The Sun-Sentinel notes: "The company has a contract with Capgemini, a global outsourcing services, for the establishment of jobs in Guatemala and India."
