Online Advertising to Grow at 9% until 2014

A study by eMarketer predicts that online ad spending in Latin America will grow between 6% and 9% annually between 2010 and 2014.

According to the study, Latin America was the region which showed more strength against the recession, registering an online advertising growth of 13.3% in 2009 reaching $ 1,700 million. According to eMarketer, this trend will continue and reach $ 4,000 million in 2014.

As a percentage of the total ad spending, online ads are expected to reach 11% in 2014 from 7.1% in 2010.

The article notes that consumers in the region are increasing their use of mobile phones, Internet and paid television, while print media has suffered the biggest drop in audience, registering double-digit percentage declines from readers in most markets.

Panama: Advertising Investment Up 23%

From January to May, $148.1 million were spent in advertising, 23.1% more than the same period of 2008.

The sectors with most growth were Television ads, 26%, and print ads, 18.8%, according to data from the General Comptroller of the Republic.

According to data from Ibope Time Panama, $248 million were invested in this period, $38 million more than 2008.

Publicist Mario Barletta told Pa-digital.com.pa: "Even though we expected a drop in advertising for 2009, due to the financial crisis, the results have been pretty positive".
