Palm Growers Forge Industry Alliance

The Cooperative of Palm Growers of Chiriquí (Coopemapachi), from Panama, forged an alliance with "Fraccionadora de Occidente", from Nicaragua.

The palm growers will sell them raw materials, and the Nicaraguan company will supply them with palm oil products to sell in Panama.

"They will export nine thousand tons of raw palm oil and dry almond oil in the first year ... 'there are no restrictions for importing this Panamanian product in Nicaragua, thanks to bilateral trade agreements', remarked Estrada", president of the Nicaraguan company.

Panama: $7.8 Million in Vegetable Oil Plant

A new plant for extracting vegetable oil from African palm will start operating on December 4th, after a $7.8 million investment.

It is located in Barú, in the province of Chiriquí, and is owned by Coopemapachi (Association of Palm Oil Producers from Chiriquí). It is capable of processing 20 tons per hour.
