Panama: Extension Requested for Brokerage Consulting Biddding

The companies interested in participating asked the Public Utilities Authority to extend the deadline.

The bid is for a $ 1.3 million consultancy contract in the sale of share packages from Empresa de Distribución Eléctrica METRO-OESTE, S.A., Empresa de Distribución Eléctrica ELEKTRA NORESTE, S.A. and Empresa de Distribución Eléctrica CHIRIQUÍ, S.A.

At the approval meeting, the companies requested an extension to the current date of submission of bids scheduled for December 7th.

The National Authority of Public Services (ASEP) replied that "the established date is for December 7, 2010 and submission and opening of proposals will take place then,” published Prensa.com.

Eleven Companies Bid for Securities Consulting

Panama's public services authority ASEP received 11 bids for advising in the sale of energy companies.

The contract comprises advising in the sale of the shares of energy distribution companies Metro-Oeste S.A., Elektra Noroeste S.A. and Chiriquí S.A.

Bidders are mostly foreign and include PA Consulting Smartbiz, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, Deloitte and Indesa.

Power Contracts for $18 million Awarded

The Electric Transmission Company (Etesa) of Panama has awarded two companies with concessions for providing long-term energy for the period 2014 to 2024.

According to a resolution by the state entity, the companies Paso Ancho Hydro Power and Teribe Hydroecological SA. will attend to, in the period from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2024, the energy needs of the companies: Electricity Distribution Company Metro-Oeste SA, Electricity Distribution Company SA Chiriquí and Elektra Noreste SA.
