Panama: Loans Conference for SMEs

The show, organized by the Panamanian Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprise Authority (AMPyME in Spanish), will be held on 1 and 2 of September in the Atlapa Conference Center.

The idea of the show is to gather under one roof as many financial institutions as possible with products for the MSME sector with the aim of providing small companies with the support they need to develop their businesses.

Panama's AMPyME minister, Giselle Burillo, told Panamá América that, "the event is backed by the Guarantees Fund which may be able to cover a percentage of any loans taken out, depending on the economic activity being undertaken".

$27 Million for Renewable Energy Projects

El Salvador's Multi Sector Investment Bank launched the "Renewable Company" program.

The program is oriented to companies looking to develop renewable energy projects, or small business wanting to reconvert their companies to renewable processes. The bank (BMI) will finance up to 80% of the total investment.

10,300 New SMEs in Panama

August 2010

In the first seven months of the year 10,292 new micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) were registered, 126% more than in 2009.

Records held by the Panamanian MSME Authority (AMPyME in Spanish) show that most of the new companies were in the exports, services and agriculture sectors.

Nicaragua: $ 45 Million in Production Loans

Banco Produzcamos accumulated a $ 45 million loan portfolio during its first 5 months of operation.

According to a report from the Superintendence of Banks, the banking institution, created to fund production activities, had $ 78 million in patrimony by late October.

"The manager and president of the Union of Agricultural Producers of Nicaragua, Manuel Alvarez, said that among the bank's projections is to close the year with a credit placement in excess of $46 million," reports Elnuevodiario.com.ni.

Growth in Supply of Housing Loans in Costa Rica

The banking system has increased its range of mortgage credits with terms of up to 30 years in both dollars and colones, the local currency.

The Costa Rican banking system's housing credit portfolio makes up 31% of 31% of all non-financial private sector loans, measured in colones. As of May year on year sector growth stood at 3.71%, according to the Central Bank.
