The Panama Canal Authority and the Iberoamerican Institute of Maritime Law will hold an international conference in February with participation of specialists in the maritime sector.
The ‘Maritime Summit for a legal and logistics global platform' will take place in the midst of an increasingly competitive industry in a global economy with rapid technological advances, particularly in computers and digital communications, reported medialaestrella.com.pa.
"The shipping industry requires functionality and effective management of all areas, especially in Logistics (adequate and timely supply), and the law (ordinances, regulations and prevention of lawsuits) to meet strategic goals and objectives" said Nelson Carreyo, president of the Iberoamerican Institute of Maritime Law (IIDM).

The conference will take place from 8th to 11th of February 2011 at Hotel El Panama.
The agenda includes discussions on issues such as maritime business, environmental protection, security management and transportation of hazardous substances.
