Panama Promoted in Brazil

Strong economic growth in recent years and appreciation of its currency against the U.S. dollar has made Brazilians the main tourists in Latin American.

In order to promote tourist destinations in the Brazilian market Panamanians will invest $ 2.5 million in an advertising campaign in the country in the last quarter of the year .

Tourism officials have held meetings with Brazilian tourism wholesalers and signed an agreement with Brazilian operator CVC to sell charter flights from that country to Panama.

An article in Prensa.com reports, "CVC told Panamanian officials that they are holding talks with the airlines Gol and Whitejet in order to establish tourist flights to Panama. According to Brazilian estimates, its people will have spent 24 billion dollars in travel outside their borders by the end of the year, driven by appreciation of the real against the dollar. "

ATP to Control Tourism Advertising in Panama

The Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) is to take direct control of the $6 million budgeted this year for the international advertising campaign.

From 2012 onwards, the ATP will handle the international advertising campaign, buying space directly in respective countries. For the last 4 years an advertising agency, winner of a public tender in 2007, has managed the campaigns.

$11 Million To Promote Panamanian Tourism

Representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) explained that the objective is to bring more international tourists to the country.

Advertising Investment Increases by 22% in Panama

In the first quarter of the year, $82.7 million were invested in advertising, 22.3% more than for the same period in 2008.

Monica Urrutia, president of the Panamanian Association of Advertising Agencies (APAP), attributed this growth to the effects of the electoral campaign and increased investment from telecommunications companies.

Online Advertising to Grow at 9% until 2014

A study by eMarketer predicts that online ad spending in Latin America will grow between 6% and 9% annually between 2010 and 2014.

According to the study, Latin America was the region which showed more strength against the recession, registering an online advertising growth of 13.3% in 2009 reaching $ 1,700 million. According to eMarketer, this trend will continue and reach $ 4,000 million in 2014.
