Panama: Shopping Centers Driving Coronado Area

The recent opening of Coronado Mall and the upcoming opening of Plaza Las Pergolas are driving the development of the area.

Shopping mall Plaza Las Pergolas is scheduled to open in January 2011 and has 32 shops spread over five modules as well as 31 deposits starting at 27 square meters.

"In July of this year, Coronado Mall opened its doors after 15 months of construction, with an investment of $ 15 million," writes Prensa.com. "After construction of the first (Coronado Mall), commerce grew by 60% in the sector, projections suggest that number should increase."

Inmobiliaria Spectrum, project developer, based in zone 17 in Guatemala Capital, plans to begin construction in November 2009.

New $35 Million Shopping Mall in Guatemala

“Inmobiliaria Spectrum”, a real estate developer, announced it will build a 70.000 square meter shopping mall in zone 17, called “Portales”.

It will feature 115 shops, parking space for 1600 vehicles, food plaza and movie theaters.

Salvador Frech, from Spectrum, told Elperiodico.com.gt that “there is an opportunity for taking an innovative concept to this area.

Guatemala: Investment in Mall Expansion

The real state division of Coban Group's announced the expansion of Mall Magdalena in Alta Verapaz.

The new phase was inaugurated on December 4 and will add parking area for 180 vehicles, more square meters of dining area and 1,700 square meters of retail space.

Prensalibre.com reports "Construction and operation will generate over 175 new direct jobs.
