Panama Will Have an Investment Promotion Agency

The country will create an investment promotion agency similar to those of Chile and Singapore.

The announcement was made by Economy Minister Alberto Vallarino, while attending the National Competitiveness Forum.

Vallarino explained: "It will be similar to Singapore's in attracting and promoting investment, but similar to the agencies of Chile and Colombia in commercialization and fostering agriculture".

Panama Implements Strategy for Promoting Exports

The recently created Promotion Agency will focus on boosting sales of traditional export products.

These include melon, watermelon, gourd and high-altitude coffee, explained José Domingo Arias, Trade vice minister.

“’Trade shows and missions are at the core of exports promotion, added Arias, who also commented they are considering training sessions to inform on the Trade Agreements signed by Panama”.

Costa Rican companies aim to woo Europe

Costa Rica is sending a trade mission to Europe from July 12 to 18. Companies of all sizes are among the 21 represented on the mission.

The mission, which will include stops in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, coincides with the fourth round of talks on an association agreement between Central America and the European Union.

More Business for Nicaragua in International Fairs

The promotion of Nicaraguan firms in international markets during 2011 has already borne fruit in closed deals for $20 million.

During recent participation in Mexico’s Food Fair, six companies were able to do business with the Aztec nation, including Agropecuaria de Exportaciones, Parmalat Centroamérica and Cafetalera Castellón.
