Panama in the cards for next Trump casino

Donald Trump's company Trump Entertainment is planning on opening it's first gaming facility outside of the United States on the Pacific Ocean in Panama City.

The casino will be part of the Trump Ocean Club hotel and condominium complex currently under construction, and will likely open to coincide with the condo in either 2009 or 2010.

January 2009

The Games board reviewed four new request for the opening and operating of new casinos.

Dialogo Ciudadano.com reports: "The casinos include the following projects: Ice Towers, the Ocean Trump Plaza Hotel belonging to billionaire Donald Trump, and Los Faros de Panama which belongs to the Spanish group, Moll.

Panama: Trump Ocean Club to Open in 2011

The $400 million real estate project “Trump Ocean Club”, is slated to be ready by early 2011.

Roger Khafif, project leader, told AP that they have already completed 66 of the 70 stories of the tower, whose construction began on May 2007.

“It is the most expensive real estate project in Latin America, with over 2.8 million square feet and 70 stories”, told the developers in a press release.

Bets in Panama increase 8.6%

January 2009

Bets in the gambling industry totaled $1.03 billion in 2008.

Prensa.com reports on its website: "This increase goes hand in hand with the increase in tourism that Panama has experienced in the last few years," said Antonio Alfaro, president of the Association of Gambling Administrators (Asaja).

Costa Rica casinos to follow new rules

Costa Rica doesn’t want to become a gaming detsination like Las Vegas. New laws have been passed in Costa Rica that will change the way that many of the casinos will be run and ultimately prevent new casinos being built in Costa Rica as casinos begin to limit their operations in line with these rules.

Existing hotels with casinos and stand alone casinos must regulate their hours from 6pm until 2am from the current 24 hour operations many of them use right now. Many casinos in Costa Rica offer free alcohol to their customers however this must also come to a stop as well as restricting access for minors. The government has handed these businesses a 6 month deadline to bring these changes into effect.
