The company awarded project, worth approximately $3 million, will build a 23,000 m2 terminal: 10,000 for the buildings and 13,000 for the aircraft facilities.
The bid proposal is to include a clause detailing how the private aircraft terminal that is currently located at Tocumen Airport could be transferred to Howard. Every month 300 private airplanes land at Tocumen and this number is expected to increase to 450 with the new infrastructure planned, according to an article by Alex E. Hernández for LaPrensa.com.
Juan Carlos Pino, Tocumen chief, indicated that the transfer of the terminal from Tocumen to Howard would favor tourism activity since the final destinations of people arriving on most private flights are Panama's beaches.
