Panamanian Exchange Trading Grows by 27.5%

The total amount traded on the Panamanian Stock Exchange (BVP in Spanish) at the end of 2011 was $3.365 million, 27.5% more than in 2010.

A statement from the BVP said that the total amount traded was $1,377 million in releases of corporate bonds and $1,243 million in state certificates.

"The commercial paper securities, known as short-term papers shares, came in third place with a total of $364.9 million traded.

Corporate bonds made up 63% of the total volume traded, compared with 37% in state certificates, which "once again confirms the specific nature of the BVP as an essentially corporate entity", indicated the statement", according to an article by Univision.com

Public offering of BICSA bonds for $100 million

August 2008

The Panama branch of the International Bank of Costa Rica (BICSA) has made a public offer of corporate bonds worth $100 million.

The listing and negotiation of these bonds has been authorized by the Panama Stock Exchange (BVP) and the National Stock Commission of Panama, however this authorization does not imply a recommendation or opinion of these stocks or the issuer, indicated a press release from the BVP.

Panama: $487 million in Corporate Bonds

Companies in the real estate, energy and finance sectors, up to May 2012, have been working towards raising capital through the Panama Stock Exchange.

Inmobiliaria Don Antonio (commercial sector, $100 million), Hydro CAISAN (energy) and Allied Factoring (finance, $50 million) are at the top of the list of issuers that have registered deals with the Superintendency of Securities of Panama, which added together total $280 million in corporate bonds.

Trading on the Panama stock exchange increase 39%

October 2008

As of September 2008 the Panama Stock Exchange (BVP) negotiated $558.8 million.

The secondary market has been very active, with transaction worth $556.7 million and a growth of 54.9%. Trading of repurchases was at $249.2 million, an increase of 89.80%.

Trading in the primary market reached $752.9 million, an increase of 19.4%.

15.4% less traded in Panama exchange

January 2009

The total trading at the Panama Stock Exchange (BVP) at the end of 2008 was $1.93 billion, or 15.4% less than 2007.

According to laestrella.com.pa, "During the first three quarters of 2008, the BVP recorded an increase that was greater than in 2007, however in the last three months of the year, the situation was reversed.
